Importing a Terraria world

You can bring an existing world to your Terraria server using Importer. Stop the server and take a backup first, especially if you are replacing a world with the same name.

Upload the world

  1. Put the world's .wld file in a ZIP archive. For a modded world, include its matching companion files, such as .twld, too.
  2. Select Terraria in CreeperPanel, then open Importer.
  3. Upload the archive and wait for the import to finish. ZIP, RAR and 7z archives are supported.
  4. Open Files and find the new world-... folder inside terraria. Open it and move the world files into terraria/Worlds.

If that destination already contains a world with the same filename, keep a backup of it before replacing anything. Keep matching modded-world files together.

Start the imported world

Open Settings → General and set World Name to the .wld filename without its extension. For MyWorld.wld, enter MyWorld. Save, then start the server.

Although the setting describes naming an automatically created world, the server also uses that name to find an existing save in terraria/Worlds. Match the filename exactly so it loads your imported world instead of creating a new one.

For a modded world, install the matching tModLoader version and required mods before starting. Check the Console and join the server to confirm that the correct world has loaded.
