Backups and Current World

Locating your World Saves

Ark manages its world saves in a slightly different manner than most games. These are typically stored in the fashion of:

  • TheIsland

  • TheIsland.bak

To find your ARK: Survival Evolved save locations, log in to the CreeperPanel, then:

  1. Select ARK: Survival Evolved from your installed Games & Software list, then,
  2. Navigate to Files, found under Settings in the instance's sub-menu.
  3. In the File Manager, navigate through the following directories: ShooterGame,
  4. Saved,
  5. SavedArks.

Swapping your Current save for a Backup

warning

When swapping your chosen world save file for a backup, you will need to delete or rename the main save. Ensure you are deleting the save you are experiencing issues with, not a backup you wish to use.

The longer your server runs, the more backups you will see. Your latest save-state will always have the file extension .ark, and all backups will have .bak as their file extension.

Should you have errors in your world, or your server is having issues loading your recent world file, you can use one of your backups; first, delete or rename the current .ark save file. Next, remove the .bak file extension, and any extras (such as _AntiCorruptionBackup) from your selected backup file - you should now see TheIsland in your directory again. Your server will now use your old backup file as the primary world save.
