Keep your vanilla+ settings through updates
Your friends may agree on the pack but want different settings for your server. Repeating those edits after an update is the sort of small chore that quickly stops being small. Config Layers lets you change supported mod settings through a visual editor in CreeperPanel.
For NeoForge packs on Minecraft 1.21 and newer, your chosen values sit in a separate JSON layer. A Java agent merges them when the server launches, leaving the pack’s original configuration files unchanged. Pack or mod updates therefore don’t overwrite those choices.
You don’t have to edit the pack itself to keep your preferences. The distinction is deliberate: the pack retains its own files, and your server retains the changes you chose. Updating and customising don’t need to become the same job.
