Our Story: Fundamental is a relatively light Minecraft 1.21.4 pack with 176 mods, built around a polished version of the familiar Minecraft experience rather than a vast technology or magic progression tree.

Its mix leans towards exploration, combat, visual improvements, and everyday conveniences. Recognisable additions include JourneyMap, Jade, Waystones, Cooking for Blockheads, and Right Click Harvest. Fresh Animations, Sodium, improved sound, shaders, and texture enhancements shape the client experience, while smaller inventory and interface changes remove common annoyances.

That makes it approachable for mixed groups: experienced players gain useful tools without newcomers needing to study a quest book before punching their first tree.

Although this is lighter than many large modpacks, multiplayer activity still changes the picture. Several players travelling in different directions can generate chunks quickly, placing more pressure on the server CPU and storage than everyone building around one settlement.

Many visual additions in this pack run primarily on each player’s computer. Shaders, animated textures, and similar effects therefore affect client performance more than server memory.

Sensible server planning

For a small group, begin with a balanced allocation rather than throwing excessive memory at Java. Fast CPU performance, sensible view and simulation distances, and enough memory for active chunks generally matter more than an oversized heap.

Set reasonable chunk-loader rules and schedule backups for quieter periods. If your community explores aggressively or keeps numerous loaded bases active, moving to a larger plan is usually more effective than repeatedly trimming settings.
