X-Life 1.2.1 runs on Minecraft 1.14.4 with Forge and contains 70 mods. Everyone begins with one heart and has ten lives, gaining another heart after each death. That gives multiplayer sessions an unusual rhythm: early expeditions feel dangerous, while every mishap becomes part of your server’s history.

The pack mixes exploration, combat, building, and quality-of-life additions. Biomes O’ Plenty and Valhelsia Structures give players reasons to travel, while Quark, Apotheosis, Waystones, Better Animals Plus, and Macaw’s building mods add variety without turning the pack into a sprawling factory simulator.

Hosting Considerations for X-Life

World generation and server load

X-Life is relatively compact by modpack standards, but exploration mods still make new chunks more demanding than already-generated areas. Short pauses are most likely when several players head into unexplored terrain at once. Strong single-core CPU performance usually matters more here than simply assigning excessive memory.

A small group can often run comfortably on a modest plan. Premium is the better starting range for busier groups, frequent exploration, or a world you expect to keep for months. Extra headroom also helps when mobs, farms, dropped items, and loaded player bases begin accumulating.

Versions, changes, and world care

Players should use the same X-Life, Minecraft, and Forge versions as the server. This older Forge generation can be less forgiving when individual mods or libraries are changed independently, so test custom additions before applying them to the main world.

Keep regular world copies, especially before pack updates, configuration changes, or adding mods. The life system makes player data particularly important; losing progress to an avoidable rollback is not the sort of extra difficulty anyone signed up for.

If performance changes over time, investigate loaded chunks, dense mob areas, item buildup, and newly explored terrain before assuming the server simply needs more memory.
