CaveColonies at a Glance

CaveColonies combines MineColonies with a stoneblock-style world, quests, exploration and a broad selection of building and progression mods. The pack contains 128 mods and runs on Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2825.

MineColonies provides the shared long-term project, while Ex Nihilo Creatio, Ex Compressum and Tinkers’ Construct support progression from limited underground beginnings. Chisels & Bits and building tools give ambitious players plenty of ways to decorate the resulting cavern settlement.

CreeperPanel installs the pack without manual file juggling. When an update is available, its updater can retain your configuration changes rather than flattening every adjustment you have made.

Hosting Considerations for CaveColonies

Colony growth changes the load

MineColonies servers commonly become busier as settlements expand. Colonist pathfinding, active buildings, item movement and nearby players all contribute to server tick time. A fresh world may feel relatively light, while a developed colony with several players can ask much more from the CPU.

For that reason, we recommend our Premium range for CaveColonies, particularly if your group intends to keep one world for months. Strong single-core performance usually matters more than simply assigning excessive memory.

Keep colony layouts navigable, avoid unnecessary chunk loading and watch for machines or item systems that run continuously. If performance changes after a large build or colony expansion, measure tick activity before removing mods or throwing more memory at it.

Keep the pack versions matched

This is a legacy Minecraft 1.12.2 pack, so server and client files need to remain on the same CaveColonies release and Forge version. Avoid casually updating individual mods: older packs often depend on exact combinations of mods, scripts and configuration files.

Back up the world before changing anything significant. Planned restarts can also help older, long-running 1.12.2 servers after extended play sessions.
