War is Hell Modpack Overview

War is Hell is an 84-mod combat and technology pack for Minecraft 1.12.2, running on Forge 14.23.5.2837. Guns, missiles, aircraft, railways, machines, and large-scale engineering give groups plenty of ways to build—and then argue vigorously about territorial boundaries.

Its technology roster includes Applied Energistics 2, Ender IO, Mekanism, Immersive Engineering, Thermal Expansion, NuclearCraft, and Extreme Reactors. Advanced Rocketry broadens the scope beyond the overworld, while Biomes O’ Plenty makes exploration more varied.

This is not only a quick PvP pack. Shared factories, transport systems, power generation, storage networks, and military projects can turn a server into a lengthy team campaign.

A Server Built for Escalation

War is Hell works best when players can leave projects running and return without waiting for the host to start their computer. A proper server also gives rival teams neutral ground: nobody gets an accidental advantage because the world lives on their machine.

Hosting Considerations for War is Hell

The pack’s mod count is moderate, but the type of mods matters more than the number. Large automation networks, active machines, complex storage systems, and frequently loaded areas commonly increase server tick time as a world develops. Several busy bases will usually demand more than a fresh world with the same players.

Exploration can produce short performance spikes while new Biomes O’ Plenty terrain is generated. Advanced Rocketry progression may also add more dimensions and long-term world data. Encouraging players to explore sensibly—or pregenerating expected play areas—can make travel smoother.

Combat deserves some restraint too. Large explosions, rapid terrain damage, and repeated missile use can create sudden bursts of work for the server. Sensible rules and tested configuration changes help preserve both performance and friendships.

We generally recommend the Premium range for this pack, especially for active groups planning extensive factories or prolonged PvP. Keep regular backups before changing mods or important settings; older 1.12.2 packs can be less forgiving of mismatched files and interrupted world saves.
