Minecraft 1.12.2 packs often care as much about fast CPU performance as available memory. Server SMP Pack is not enormous by modern standards, but its mix of machines, storage networks, dimensions, world generation, and automation can become demanding as a shared world matures. New terrain generation commonly causes short spikes, especially when several players explore different regions or dimensions at once. Pre-generating frequently used areas can reduce that pressure during normal play, though it also creates a larger world to store and back up.

Later-game bases are usually the bigger concern. Large item networks, constantly running machines, dense transport systems, and loaded chunks can add tick time even when nobody is actively using them. Spread major builds sensibly, avoid leaving unnecessary automation running forever, and check performance before adding more machines to an already busy base.

Client and server files must also stay aligned. Keep the same pack version across the group, and back up the world before changing mods or important configurations. Older Forge packs can be less forgiving of casual mid-world changes.
