An Underground Magic Campaign

Banished is a Minecraft 1.7.10 Forge pack built around quests, dangerous exploration and magic-driven progression. Its 60 mods create a focused experience rather than a broad kitchen-sink sandbox.

Thaumcraft and its add-ons sit alongside Botania, Aura Cascade, Forbidden Magic and ProjectE. Meanwhile, Lycanites Mobs, Special Mobs, Special AI and Epic Siege Mod make the cave world considerably less forgiving than an ordinary survival map.

That combination works particularly well for a regular group. Players can divide research, storage and combat duties while progressing through the quest line, but mistakes still have consequences. A server also means nobody has to send world files around or wait for the original host before continuing.

Built for a Shared Banished World

Older modpacks are often easy to underestimate. Banished has a relatively focused mod list, but its hostile mobs, custom progression and legacy Forge setup deserve more care than a temporary vanilla server.

Hosting Considerations for Banished

Banished commonly puts more pressure on the server during combat and fresh exploration than its mod count alone suggests. Enhanced mob AI and larger groups of hostile entities add tick work, while generating unexplored cave terrain can produce short bursts of load. Exploring in several directions at once tends to make those bursts more noticeable.

Memory needs usually grow with the world, active players and loaded areas. Avoid assigning excessive memory simply because it is available; legacy Java servers can suffer longer garbage-collection pauses when configured carelessly. Start with a sensible allocation for your group, then adjust using observed usage rather than guesswork.

Keep the server and every client on the same Banished release. Minecraft 1.7.10 packs can be sensitive to mismatched mods, altered configs and unsuitable Java setups, so take a backup before manual changes. If lag appears, check entity counts, newly generated chunks and repeatedly loaded areas before blaming the whole pack.
