World generation commonly causes the largest short bursts of CPU use. Players travelling in different directions, entering Twilight Forest, or searching for structures may generate many chunks at once. Pre-generating the main areas your group expects to use can smooth early exploration, though it requires extra storage and preparation time.
Performance later in the world’s life tends to depend on what players build. Large Create systems, crowded mob areas, excessive dropped items, and heavily loaded chunks can all increase tick time. No single contraption is automatically a problem; trouble usually comes from many active systems piling up across several bases.
Keep view and simulation distances sensible, restart on a regular schedule, and avoid adding extra mods without checking dependencies and compatibility. Server and client pack versions should match, particularly after an update. Back up the world before changing Forge, pack, or configuration versions.
