Terrain generation needs strong CPU performance

Exploration packs commonly work the server hardest when players spread out and generate fresh chunks simultaneously. Complex terrain, structures, mobs, and loot all need processing before players can see the results. Fast single-core performance matters here, particularly during busy exploration sessions.

Pre-generating the area around your starting region can reduce stutters during early play, although adventurous groups will eventually push beyond it. Sensible world borders can also keep backups and storage growth under control without making the world feel cramped.

Plan for growth, not only launch day

A fresh server may run differently from a mature world containing Create machinery, loaded bases, item networks, and frequently visited dimensions. Memory demand also tends to rise with active players and explored terrain. Leave headroom rather than choosing a plan that is already near its limit on day one.

Some included visual features, such as shaders and Distant Horizons, place much of their burden on each player’s computer rather than the server. They can still encourage rapid exploration, however, which increases chunk generation server-side.

Keep pack versions aligned between server and players, back up before updates, and avoid adding extra mods casually. With a pack this interconnected, one “small” addition can cause dependency or world-loading trouble.
