The Corrupted Directory is a 118-mod horror and exploration pack for Minecraft 1.20.1, built on Forge 47.4.10. Its ominous atmosphere is backed by expanded terrain, dangerous encounters, stronger sound design, and multiplayer combat.
Biomes O’ Plenty, Tectonic, and Deeper and Darker broaden the places your group can explore. From The Fog and other horror additions keep journeys uncomfortable, while Better Combat changes how fights feel. Sound Physics Remastered and Simple Voice Chat can make a dark cave with friends considerably less reassuring.
Corpse, JEI, and Xaero’s World Map add practical tools around the horror, so the pack still works well as a shared, longer-term world rather than a one-night scare.
Hosting Considerations for The Corrupted Directory
This is not the largest modpack around, but exploration-heavy Forge servers commonly ask more of the CPU while generating terrain. Several players travelling in different directions can create noticeable tick delays, especially on a home machine that is also running a game client.
World generation and exploration
The pack includes Chunky, which can be used to generate the area around your planned base and common travel routes before everyone joins. Pre-generating terrain often reduces stutters during early exploration, though it should be run while player activity is low.
Keep view and simulation distances sensible at first. You can raise them after seeing how the server behaves with your usual group online rather than making the server generate more terrain than anyone needs.
