Better Than Ocelots [A Modern Better Than Wolves Port & Additons!] brings demanding Minecraft modpack hosting to CreeperHost, with a brutal Fabric experience for Minecraft 1.21.1. Inspired by Better Than Wolves, it replaces vanilla convenience with slower progression, mechanical production, and meaningful survival risks.

Hardcore Progression

This pack reworks hunger, food production, crafting, mining, building, farming, trading, and exploration. Food is no longer a simple item to refill whenever needed; producing it becomes a system you must develop. Tougher mobs, harsher surroundings, and unforgiving mechanics make travel dangerous, while death carries greater weight.

Basic recipes are also significantly changed. Wooden planks, bread, bonemeal, and other familiar items cannot simply be produced by hand. Progress depends on constructing the machinery needed to process materials, encouraging substantial bases and careful planning instead of quick vanilla shortcuts.

The Machine Age

Create-style machinery takes over many traditional recipes and adds a distinct mechanical path through survival. Sieves, mills, crucibles, saws, turntables, and related devices become essential parts of advancement. These machines are not merely decorative: they define how materials are gathered, processed, and turned into useful goods.

The pack’s early and mid-game aim to closely follow the Better Than Wolves experience, while later progression continues to expand. The project is still in development, with some systems and late-game content subject to further balancing, but it is presented as playable and beatable from start to finish.
