Host your Err-Null server

Host Err-Null as a multiplayer server with CreeperHost and let your whole group experience its nostalgic horror together. The server keeps running between sessions, so nobody has to leave a spare PC humming in the corner.

  • One-click installation gets the Forge pack running quickly.
  • Home-hosted worlds stop when the host disconnects or shuts down.
  • Playing and hosting on one PC can turn sudden scares into sudden lag.
  • Updates preserve your configuration changes.
  • DDoS protection helps keep public or community servers reachable.

Err-Null at a Glance

Err-Null is a compact horror pack for Minecraft 1.20.1, built on Forge 47.4.10 with 38 mods. Its style combines unsettling creatures with deliberately nostalgic visuals and sound.

Camera Overhaul, classic fog, darker presentation, environmental audio and VHS-inspired sound help set the mood. Jade and JEI keep everyday play manageable, while FallingTree and vein mining reduce some of the routine work. The included voice chat can make group sessions particularly effective: hearing a friend panic nearby is often better than seeing another message in chat.

CreeperPanel handles installation and lets you manage mods and configuration files through a GUI rather than digging through folders manually.

Why It Works as a Shared Scare

Horror packs benefit from a world that remains separate from any one player’s computer. Your group can arrange sessions without waiting for the usual host, and the world can stay online for anyone brave enough to join alone.

A permanent server also makes configuration easier to control. Everyone connects to the same server setup, while you decide who has access and when changes should be applied. That matters when the pack’s atmosphere depends on its particular mix of visual, audio and gameplay mods.

Hosting Considerations for Err-Null

Err-Null is relatively light by modpack standards, but Forge servers still prefer strong single-core CPU performance. Busy exploration, chunk generation and several players moving in different directions can create short tick-time spikes even when the overall mod count is modest.

Keep an eye on distance and exploration

View distance and simulation distance are usually the first settings worth checking if the server begins to struggle. Pre-generating commonly used areas can also reduce generation pauses during a planned group session. Avoid changing several performance settings at once; small, measured adjustments make the actual cause much easier to spot.

Memory use will commonly remain below that of large technology or magic packs, although player activity, world size and added mods still matter. Client optimisation mods in the pack do not necessarily reduce the server’s requirements, so launcher performance is not a reliable measure of server health.

Test voice chat before inviting everyone

Modded voice chat commonly needs an additional network port and matching client configuration. Test it with another player before the main session, especially if proximity audio is central to the experience. That avoids spending the opening night troubleshooting silence instead of being unsettled by it.

Why CreeperHost Fits Err-Null

Our hybrid VPS platform gives Forge the native CPU performance it prefers, running on modern Ryzen, EPYC and Intel Ultra hardware.

If ticks start slipping, CreeperPanel includes tools for finding lag sources. On eligible Premium and Pro services, Ask Theo can inspect the current server and panel state, explain what it finds and prepare safe next steps for your approval.

When the problem is stranger than a setting or graph, real CreeperHost staff bring more than 13 years of modded Minecraft hosting experience to the conversation.

Got questions?

Yes. CreeperHost modpack pages link into ordering with the selected pack ready to install. You can also change versions or pick another supported pack later from CreeperPanel.

CreeperPanel is built around real modded servers, including update paths that aim to preserve user configuration changes where supported instead of treating every update like a fresh install.

Eco can work for lighter packs, but Premium is the recommended CreeperHost range for modded Minecraft. Premium gives stronger hardware, Turbo Start, Bonus Memory, and Ask Theo where enabled.
