Distance Graphics at a Glance

Distance Graphics is a 37-mod Fabric pack for Minecraft 1.21.11, combining an expanded visual experience with terrain, structures, and performance-focused additions.

Distant Horizons supports its far-reaching scenery, while Iris, Sodium, and shader options such as Complementary Reimagined shape the client-side presentation. Tectonic and several structure additions give players more reasons to head beyond the starting area.

The result works particularly well as a shared world: players can establish a base, split up to explore, and gradually reveal a much larger landscape. The server keeps that world available even when the original host is offline.

Hosting Considerations for Distance Graphics

Visual distance and server load

Shaders and much of the distant rendering work happen on each player’s computer, so the server does not render those panoramic views. However, players still need world data before their clients can display or cache it.

That means fast travel and widespread exploration commonly create bursts of chunk generation. If several players head into untouched terrain at once, CPU speed matters more than the pack’s modest mod count might suggest. Premium is the better starting point for busy groups or long-running worlds where exploration is the main event.

Chunky is included and may be used to generate terrain ahead of play. Pre-generating the area your group expects to use can reduce generation spikes later, although it requires extra disk space and should be scheduled when the server is quiet.

Memory, storage, and configuration

Distance Graphics is lighter than a large kitchen-sink pack, but memory needs still grow with player activity, loaded chunks, and the size of the explored world. Start with sensible headroom rather than allocating everything available; excessive Java memory is not automatically faster.

World files can expand steadily when players roam widely. Keep backups, watch storage use, and set server view and simulation distances according to actual player activity. Client settings for Distant Horizons or shaders should be tuned separately on each player’s machine.
