Expect the World to Grow

Terrain and structure generation commonly cause short CPU spikes, particularly when players travel in different directions. A busy exploration session is usually harder on a server than the same group building together in established chunks.

World pre-generation can reduce those interruptions later, although the generation process itself needs time and CPU. Sensible world borders also stop an enthusiastic explorer from turning the save folder into a cartographic monument.

Machinery Changes the Load

Create contraptions, automated farms, storage networks, dropped items, and large groups of mobs can gradually increase tick time. No single workshop must be enormous to matter; several constantly running builds across the map can have the same effect.

Memory needs also tend to rise as the world expands and more players keep different areas active. That is why we generally point Slow Side communities towards Premium, especially for a long-running server or a group that plays concurrently.

Keep view and simulation distances reasonable, restart on a sensible schedule, and take backups before pack upgrades. If performance changes suddenly, check recent builds, newly explored regions, and entity counts before simply adding more memory. Modded lag is often about what the server is processing, not just how much RAM it has.
