Your Taproot server, with the useful bits included.
Host your Taproot server
Host Taproot as a multiplayer server with CreeperHost and give your group an always-on world built around Minecraft’s older, simpler feel—without making someone’s PC responsible for keeping it alive.
- Install Taproot in one click, with updates that retain your configuration changes.
- A home PC going offline no longer closes the world for everyone.
- Keep the same Forge and pack version across the group instead of chasing mismatched files.
- Let CreeperPanel handle mods and configs without constant file juggling.
- Choose Premium for a busier or long-running shared world.
A Different Path for Minecraft
Taproot runs on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.20, but its design deliberately steps away from much of modern Minecraft. Familiar systems such as hunger, enchanting, villagers and Netherite are removed, while world generation, building rules and progression draw from earlier eras.
This is not simply an old release wrapped in a modpack. Taproot’s 211 mods reshape the experience with seasons, stamina-based sprinting, alternative tools, expanded transport and a custom drinks system. Its tighter block palette keeps building readable, while new colours, decorations and redstone-style devices leave plenty of room for ambitious community projects.
That balance works particularly well in multiplayer: recognisable enough to start quickly, but changed enough that your group has things to discover together.
Hosting Considerations for Taproot
Taproot is classed as a lighter pack, though a 211-mod Forge installation still benefits from a proper server rather than spare memory on a player’s gaming PC. Startup, world saving and chunk generation commonly create the sharpest bursts of CPU activity. Native CPU performance generally matters more than simply assigning excessive memory.
Exploration is another factor. As players travel in different directions, the server must generate and save more terrain at once. This can cause brief pauses on casually hosted machines, particularly when the host is also playing. Keeping groups reasonably close during early exploration can make initial world generation smoother.
Memory needs usually grow with player activity, loaded chunks and the age of the world. Avoid allocating far more RAM than the pack needs; oversized Java heaps can turn routine garbage collection into longer pauses. Start with a sensible plan, watch actual usage, then adjust.
Taproot also includes a mixture of gameplay, visual, compatibility and performance mods. Keep the server on the pack’s intended release rather than updating individual files independently. A single “helpful” mod update can cause connection mismatches or alter behaviour expected by the pack. Back up the world before pack updates or configuration changes.
For a small, occasional group, modest hosting may be enough. Premium is the better starting point when the server will stay active, the world will run for months, or several players regularly explore at once.
Why Run Taproot with CreeperHost?
Our hybrid VPS platform gives Taproot the native CPU performance that Forge servers tend to appreciate, using modern Ryzen, EPYC and Intel Ultra systems.
If tick times climb, CreeperPanel includes tools for investigating lag rather than relying on guesswork. On eligible Premium services, Ask Theo can inspect the current server and panel state, explain what it finds and prepare safe next steps for your approval.
We have hosted modded Minecraft communities for over 13 years, and real support staff are available when an update, world or config decides to become tonight’s group project.
Got questions?
Yes. CreeperHost modpack pages link into ordering with the selected pack ready to install. You can also change versions or pick another supported pack later from CreeperPanel.
CreeperPanel is built around real modded servers, including update paths that aim to preserve user configuration changes where supported instead of treating every update like a fresh install.
Eco can work for lighter packs, but Premium is the recommended CreeperHost range for modded Minecraft. Premium gives stronger hardware, Turbo Start, Bonus Memory, and Ask Theo where enabled.
