# Connect an AI client to CreeperPanel Theo

These are CreeperHost's setup instructions for the remote Theo MCP server. Use the section for the AI client in this conversation. If you can configure that client yourself, do so; otherwise give the user the exact steps. Do not install a local gateway or a third-party adapter.

## Connection details

- Server name: `creeperpanel`
- Production MCP URL: `https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp`
- Transport: remote MCP over Streamable HTTP
- Authentication: browser-based OAuth discovered from the MCP server

Check whether this client already has a `creeperpanel` server pointing to that URL before adding another. Prefer a user-level connection unless the user asks to share it with a project or team. Only use the section for the client actually being configured.

**Start sign-in from the MCP client.** Adding or connecting to the server triggers OAuth discovery. Do not open `https://creeperpanel.com` as a setup step, construct an authorization URL, or ask the user to paste a password, API key, secret, or OAuth token into chat. Let the user review and approve the access request in the browser opened by their client.

## Codex (desktop, CLI, or IDE)

If you have access to the Codex CLI, run:

```sh
codex mcp add creeperpanel --url https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp
codex mcp login creeperpanel
codex mcp list
```

`mcp add` may start OAuth immediately; if it does, finish that browser flow rather than starting a second one. `mcp login` starts it when the server is registered but not authenticated. The CLI and IDE share MCP configuration. Start a new Codex task after connecting if the current task does not discover the newly added tools. Verify tool discovery without calling a service-changing tool. [Codex MCP documentation](https://developers.openai.com/codex/extend/mcp).

## Claude Code

For a personal connection available across projects, run:

```sh
claude mcp add --transport http creeperpanel --scope user https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp
claude mcp login creeperpanel
claude mcp get creeperpanel
```

If the server already exists, use `claude mcp login creeperpanel` or open `/mcp` in Claude Code and connect it there. Complete the browser authorization and check that the server shows as connected. [Claude Code MCP documentation](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp).

## Claude chat or Claude Desktop

A remote custom connector is separate from Claude Code's local MCP configuration.

- On an individual account, open **Customize → Connectors → + → Add custom connector**. Enter `https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp`, add it, then select **Connect** and complete browser sign-in.
- On Team or Enterprise, an owner first adds the URL under **Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web**. Each member then opens **Customize → Connectors**, selects the connector, and connects their account.
- Enable the connector for the conversation using the **+ → Connectors** menu if it is not already selected.

If you cannot change connector settings from this chat, walk the user through those steps. [Claude remote connector documentation](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp).

## ChatGPT web

ChatGPT uses a custom MCP app, which must be created in an account or workspace that permits it. A chat message cannot create the app by itself unless this session has a tool for managing ChatGPT apps.

1. Enable **Developer mode** if the account or workspace requires it. An admin or authorized developer can open **Settings → Apps → Create**, or an admin can use **Workspace settings → Apps → Create**.
2. Create an app named **CreeperPanel** with MCP URL `https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp` and OAuth authentication.
3. Select **Scan Tools**. Complete the browser authorization prompted by ChatGPT, wait for the scan, then select **Create**.
4. Select the new app in a fresh chat and check that Theo tools are available.

If the account cannot create a custom MCP app, explain that limitation and use the fallback below. Some plans can connect only to a subset of MCP tools; explain any such restriction rather than claiming that all Theo actions are available. Do not claim that pasting this prompt into ChatGPT installed an app. [ChatGPT developer-mode and MCP app documentation](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-developer-mode-and-mcp-apps-in-chatgpt).

## Cursor

Add a personal remote MCP server in `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (or use `.cursor/mcp.json` only if the user wants it shared with a project):

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "creeperpanel": {
      "url": "https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Merge this entry into an existing file rather than replacing other servers. Restart Cursor, open **Customize → MCPs**, and complete the sign-in prompt for CreeperPanel. Check that its tools appear in Agent. [Cursor MCP documentation](https://prod.cursor.com/help/customization/mcp).

## GitHub Copilot in VS Code

Run **MCP: Open User Configuration** from the Command Palette. Add this entry under the top-level `servers` object, preserving existing servers:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "creeperpanel": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Save the file. Run **MCP: List Servers**, start CreeperPanel if needed, and complete the browser sign-in. In Copilot Chat, choose Agent mode and make sure the CreeperPanel tools are enabled. [VS Code MCP documentation](https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/agent-customization/mcp-servers).

## OpenCode

For current OpenCode versions, run:

```sh
opencode mcp add creeperpanel --url https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp
opencode mcp auth creeperpanel
opencode mcp list
```

Remote servers use OAuth by default. If the server is already configured, run `/mcps` in OpenCode and authenticate it there instead. [OpenCode MCP documentation](https://opencode.ai/v2/docs/mcp-servers).

## Another MCP client

Use that client's own remote **Streamable HTTP** MCP setup with the production URL above. Let the client discover OAuth from the server and open the authorization page. Configuration keys and UI differ between clients; do not paste a generic JSON block into an unverified format.

If the client cannot configure remote Streamable HTTP MCP with OAuth, explain the limitation and direct the user to **Ask Theo** in CreeperPanel: sign in at `https://creeperpanel.com`, select their service, and open **Ask Theo**. Do not install an unrequested adapter.

## Confirm the connection

Check that the client reports CreeperPanel as connected and can list Theo tools. A tool-list check is enough; do not run a service-changing tool merely to test the connection. Some Theo tools return `confirmation_required`. Show the proposed action to the user and call `confirm_action` only after they approve it.

If sign-in does not start, check that the configured URL is exactly `https://ai.creeperpanel.com/mcp`, that the client supports OAuth for remote MCP, and that the client has actually started or scanned the server. If a tool is denied after sign-in, the account may lack access to that service or action.

For user-facing details, see [Theo MCP](https://www.creeperhost.net/help/docs/api/mcp).
